Migration Volunteering Programme

Migration Volunteering Programme

If you're new to Aotearoa New Zealand, whether you're on a tourist Visa, new migrant or former refugee, this programme can help you learn what it is to volunteer and be a part of the wider New Zealand community.

The programme starts with a workshop for people wanting to volunteer in their community which builds on their interests and passions and gives them information about volunteers and volunteering in New Zealand. The team encourages people to volunteer in a way that is meaningful for them in roles that supports wider connection with the community - whether that is tech support, playgroup support or being in the outdoors. For those that need to learn more English and Te Reo, volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to practice Kiwi English.

Volunteer South is currently working on more dedicated support for newcomers to volunteer so please watch this space. Anyone who is new to the community is eligible for the workshop and we can provide interpreters if needed.

The next workshops are currently set for 2021 at the following dates - you only need to attend one workshop;

Newcomers workshops:
18th February, 20th May, 23rd September

Working with migrants workshop:
25th February, 27th May, 30th September

For newcomers who want to register their interest for our workshop on volunteering in Aotearoa New Zealand, sign up here.
