Kahu Youth Trust

Youth & Children

Working Hours

Kahu Youth offers all youth of the Upper Clutha region opportunities for positive events, activities, programmes and support.  The youth workers provide organised, directed activities/events on a regular basis for youth aged 11-24 while incorporating a wide range of members of the local community.  They also provide positive channels through which young people may achieve success and gain recognition.  They advocate and encourage a voice for local youth.

Volunteers are needed to assist at our regular ‘Adventure club’ programs. They would be assisting the Youth workers in the presentation of the program each week. They could run their own session if they had any skills / interests that they would like to share. These clubs take place after school and are often located away from the main youth centre e.g. mountain biking.

Volunteers should be fit and able as the sessions can be quite physical. Being a driver is essential.

Being a swimmer, first aider skier or biker is all useful.

Volunteers should have a happy and outgoing personality. Punctuality and reliability is very important as are good communication skills and the ability to think on your feet.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

We require volunteers to be available for at least 1 term (10 weeks)

Sessions take place during term time only with the girls club on Wednesdays 3.15pm – 5.30pm and boys club on Fridays 3.15pm – 5.30pm.
