Volunteer Visitor

Age Concern is asking for volunteers who would like to volunteer some time to the Accredited Visiting Service. This service is for socially isolated older people who would benefit from a regular visitor each week, to provide friendship and companionship.


The volunteer needs to be 18 years and over.
A NZ citizen or have permanent residency.
They would need to be available for at least 6 months.
Age Concern provides basic training and orientation as well as a police check.

Location: Dunedin, Mosgiel and surrounding areas, as far as Palmerston and Balclutha. Oamaru and the wider Waitaki District. Alexandra, Cromwell, Roxburgh, Wanaka. The visiting takes place in the client's home. We are searching for people in Mosgiel in particular at the moment as well.

Initial interview process with training and orientation. Ongoing support, via meetings, emails, phone calls and newsletters.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1 hour per week
7-12 month commitment is preferred
