MINT Charitable Trust is a small group of local families working on a voluntary basis to support youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities in the Upper Clutha region. Established in 2018 and becoming an incorporated group with charitable status in November 2019, the group's vision is "Strength together to achieve a good life for our children with intellectual disability".
The Project is delivering an activity and event plan for the intellectually disabled in 2020. This role is located in the Wanaka area and will involve working with youth with intellectual disabilities.
They are looking for a volunteer to help us transport 4-6 youth between home/work/school and a local gym for a boot camp. It would involve following a transport plan for pick ups and drop offs and in the Wanaka area which may spread to Luggate or Hawea. The role will be to pick up group members from their home, workplace or school and take them to activities in the central Wanaka area.
They hope volunteers will gain personal satisfaction from contributing to the community whilst having fun and enjoying meeting new people. They can gain experience working with young people and in particular young adults with intellectual disabilities.
MINT are seeking friendly and reliable volunteers who have great communication and driving skills. Volunteers should have a clean and current drivers License, great interpersonal and time management skills and a willingness to work in a team.
