M!NT Support Person (Summer Event Series)

M!NT Charitable Trust

M!NT Charitable Trust is a small group of local families working on a voluntary basis to support youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities in the Upper Clutha region. Established in 2018 and becoming an incorporated group with charitable status in November 2019, the group's vision is "Strength together to achieve a good life for our children with intellectual disability".

We are looking for a volunteer to assist in the set up/pack down of events and activities that M!NT have on throughout 2020. Possible community engagement through promoting M!NT Charitable Trust.

Currently, local youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities have no or limited access to community events and extracurricular activities and rely on families to seek, organise and fund these opportunities. M!NT will work to increase community awareness and engagement; increase active and ongoing participation in sport and recreation for the additional needs community; and develop life skills in order for individuals to make meaningful and valued contributions within the local community. This will improve community connectivity and, through working directly with families, community groups and the business sector, M!NT will link people with people and encourage social interaction and support.

We hope volunteers will gain personal satisfaction from contributing to their community and enabling young people to actively participate in various events. Volunteers will meet lots of people and have lots of fun.

We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who are happy, supportive, encouraging and have good organisational skills. Volunteers should be fit and able to do basic lifting.

Time commitment

We are looking for someone to give a few hours a month - mostly during the summer months. Mostly weekend events consisting of things like the Alpha Spartan Race, Wanaka Challenge, Ruby Swim, Kayaking and Festival of Sport.
