Ride with our driver on our shopping run/s to the supermarket with clients who require assistance getting in and out of our van, assisting them in the supermarket where necessary and carrying their groceries. Each run takes approximately 3 hours and shopping escorts must remain at the supermarket for client safety.
Empathy and patience with older people
Practical knowledge and common sense with shopping
Ability to get in and out of 12 seater van and assist clients to do the same
Ability to carry bags of groceries
Ability to commit to at least one run per month or on a casual basis
Volunteers will need the ability to leave from Thorn Street in Caversham however there may be the possibility of picking volunteers up on the run dependent on location in relation to the shopping run.
Casual tidy dress. Shoes must be comfortable with covered toes for safety
We have an orientation package for successful interviewees and ongoing support. Each run has a driver who is also there for support
Due to the vulnerability of our clients, volunteers must complete police vetting on commencement. Referees are required who will be contacted by phone and must not be relatives.
Ongoing basis on either morning (9am-approx 12noon) or afternoon (1pm to approx 4pm) runs in Dunedin City (Tues-Thurs) and Mosgiel (Fri)
