Weekend Walker/Friend to a Person with an Intellectual Disability

This delightful role doesn’t require you to take time out of your life, but rather include a matched person with an intellectual disability for weekend walks.


Friendly and a good communicator.
Training is provided for specific situations.
Attitudes and values that recognise the gifts, abilities and rights of all people to participate, contribute to community, irrespective of disabilities.
Physically fit enough to go on walks.

Induction and briefing process.
Training provided on attitudes, values, aims of FriendLink,
Philosophical underpinnings and social model of disability.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Saturdays for one hour weekly.
