The Dunedin Multicultural Council works to support multicultural communities across Dunedin. Since many of their members are migrants, they focus on providing opportunities to get to know people and develop new skills, networks and links within the wider community.

The Koru Playgroup Session Coordinator will:

  • Manage the running of the playgroup
  • Provide activities
  • Manage funding
  • Provide information and support for families
  • Attend Dunedin Multicultural Council's monthly meeting

The Koru Playgroup is located at The Early Years Hub on 158 Oxford Street, South Dunedin.

Requirements

  • Orientation/training (we'll show you what to do)
  • Coordination and magement skills
  • Communication skills
  • Likes to interact with children
  • Has understanding and has an interest in many cultures
  • Casual dress
  • Ongoing training and support is provided
  • Police vetting is required

Interviews will be conducted and volunteers will need to provide the names of 2 referees. There will be some reimbursment for travel costs.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Each Session Involves:

  • Prep time - 2 hours
  • Fixed 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month 10 - 12noon (2hours)
  • You can do either one 4 hour session per month or two sessions - equating to 8 hours per month.
