Workshop & Events Volunteer

Sustainable Queenstown is an impact initiative formed in 2018 to identify systemic gaps/problems within our environment and community, and to seek out like-minded partners in order to co-create solutions. They have various positive social and environmental impacts; building community, reducing food and plastic waste and making businesses more sustainable.

We live in a time where we need to challenge the status quo! Sustainable Queenstown is here to supercharge our community’s capabilities, connections and confidence to co-create a new future.

Community Engagement in 2019:
Sustainable Queenstown drive community activation by providing opportunities for education, experiences and interactions with each other, new ideas and the environment. They did this in 2019 by organising local events including (but not limited to):
Local Food Week
The Women’s Summit
SQCT stall at Remarkables Market
Kiwi Harvest Food Rescue related events

Volunteers can be asked to support events like:
PLASTIC FREE JULY - Events and promotion of Plastic Free July. Logistics, local promotion and delivery of community event during Plastic Free July (2019 and 2020).

Sustainable Queenstown offers volunteers the opportunity to contribute to our community, being involved, making contacts with change-makers, reducing waste and gaining satisfaction from making a difference.


The ideal volunteers to support these events:

  • Have people skills - to successfully educate people on waste issues,
  • Are aware of event logisitcs, lead up to events, operational support of events
  • Administration skills
  • Experience in pulling together fundraising schemes with the support of SQCT- such as collecting vouchers for silent auctions etc.
  • Are ready to hand out posters and raise awareness of environmental issues
