Are you passionate about youth development and offering adults opportunities to diversify and develop their own vocational and social skills. Can you see yourself encouraging parents wishing to return into the working environment once their children are older, but until such time they would maybe like to be involved in Scouts with their children so they themselves learn leadership skills, undertake training and gain confidence that will help them once they return to work?

Volunteering with SCOUTS is recognized favourably by employers because of our strong values based system of adventure, fun and challenge, acting with honesty and integrity and respecting others.

We are looking for 2-3 Inclusive Growth Coordinators each with their own extensive networks and experience within the community to promote Scouting for youth aged from 5 to 26 and Volunteering as Leaders from 18 years of age within our Maori, Pacific Island and Asian communities.

While these roles are flexible in their time commitment a minimum of 4 hours per week would be required to be able to deliver the required outcomes within these roles. We would also be happy to have a person wanting to gain work experience as a full time volunteer for a shorter period of one month. Feel free to ask more questions as we can be very flexible to accommodate you so you can help us achieve our objective of inclusive growth. We want to engage with our Maori and Pacific Island families; joining in the adventures that Scouting offers.

We also appreciate the huge cultural diversity that Dunedin offers through its place as one of the top universities in the Southern Hemisphere. We are keen to embrace our growing Asian community while helping them settle into their new country.

Requirements

Ideally we would like our Inclusive Growth Coordinators to be fluent in the spoken and written language that they are affiliated with. We would need some of our core information translating to ensure that families understand the special place that Scouts can have in their lives allowing them to be fully informed in their decision to join our huge SCOUT family. However your networks are the key to success in this role. Existing networks you can access are essential and will be pivotal to your success

Possibly travel to Invercargill on occasion - Travel likely to be with Regional Development Manager and would be an overnight stay.

We interview all volunteers.

Volunteers will undergo police vetting.

Volunteers will be required to provide two referees, preferably one professional/ex employer.

Reimbursement for out of pocket expenses is available for volunteers. All expenditure must be agreed in advance. Reimbursement for out of Dunedin travel expenses provided.

A Police background check is required for this role.
