Aspiring Enliven







Motivated by a Christian heritage, and in partnership with others, the team at Aspiring Enliven work for positive change, strong families and healthy communities. 

Located in the new centre on Cardrona Valley Road in Wanaka, Aspiring Enliven provides housing in a caring, friendly setting and caters for residents of varying needs, including a dedicated dementia wing. A fresh, pleasant, well planned centre, Aspiring Enliven provides a great environment in which to volunteer.

Aspiring Enliven are seeking a range of volunteers to assist in the facilitation of the weekly leisure and lifestyle program to promote engagement in meaningful activities. Activities range from assistance with weekly bus outings, facilitating dance/exercise programs, facilitating a regular creative/art based program, assisting with with weekly manicures and BINGO, and providing 1:1 support and meaningful conversation to our residents on a regular basis.

We are looking for a number of volunteers to support residents in the home to engage in regular meaningful activities, in this role you will need to feel confident in the following tasks:

  • Assisting Activity Coordinators to run group activities with the residents such as weekly bus trips, manicures and BINGO
  • Facilitating small group activities such as dance or exercise programs.
  • Providing emotional and social support to residents on a regular basis through 1:1 engagement.
  • Pushing wheelchairs and assisting the residents to mobilise, assistance with this is particularly needed when taking residents on outings.
  • Assisting on our Tuesday drives from 3.15pm, helping residents on and off the bus and chatting to them as we take a drive to see what's changing around Wanaka.

We hope volunteers enjoy making a difference in somebody's life whilst developing their own interpersonal skills. Volunteers get the opportunity to gain an insight into elder care, meet new people, establish new friendships and have fun!


You do not need any related qualifications for this role but you should be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.

You will be given induction training into the various range of work you may be taking on and will receive ongoing support from the volunteer coordinator.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Volunteers can volunteer any day between 10am-4pm and to help with planning ideally volunteers can commit to at least one session a week.
