Practical Help





The Plunket Society is a non-profit national organisation whose people are passionately committed to the well-being of children and their families. Plunket support families to ensure children reach their full potential in the first 5 years of life. Services available include parenting advice and support, child health promotion and health education.

Handy person wanted to help out on a regular basis - a couple of hours weekly, fortnightly or monthly at the Queenstown or Arrowtown Plunket Rooms. A volunteer is needed to assist with light repairs/maintenance, gardening/grounds keeping and other tasks as mutually agreed.

Volunteers should gain:

  • Satisfaction of contributing to our growing community while helping to support Plunket - an organisation who supports our families with our under 5 community. 
  • Opportunity to meet new people.
  • Ability to sign up online and track you volunteer hours and tasks - if you wish too.


They mainly just require a readiness to help out to keep our rooms a welcoming, clean and tidy place for families to visit. Specialist skills may be required for specific repairs or maintenance and this can be discussed.

Time commitment

This can be flexible. The rooms are open every weekday but repairs may be (and may need to be) carried out when the rooms are closed to the public.
