Dunedin Curtain Bank up-cycles unwanted and unused curtains, lines them, and distributes them to those in need in our community. Curtains make a significant difference to the warmth of a home. A third of all heat loss in an uninsulated home occurs through windows. At Dunedin Curtain Bank they collect, repair and reline donated curtains to those in need, including families, elderly and disabled.

As a Curtain Bank Volunteer you will be:

  • Assessing curtain donations
  • Accurately measuring and labeling curtains
  • Folding and shelving the curtains carefully
  • Engaging in general sorting tasks, such as dehooking, and unknotting of curtains
  • Helping to keep the curtain store room tidy, and other assorted tasks at the Curtain Bank

Requirements

Would best suit someone with:

  • Loads of initiative, and happy to work in a small team
  • A proactive and organised nature
  • Good hand/eye coordination and attention to detail
  • A friendly, empathetic, can-do attitude
    (No specific qualifications or experience are needed as training and an induction will be provided)

Time commitment

1 half day shift per week (2-3 hours), and opening hours are Mon - Thurs 9.00 - 4.00 pm.
