If anyone has any leftover balance on the wristbands used to purchase beer and food at the festival, they have a choice to get a refund, or donate the balance to the designated charity - that's us!
This could be an enormous fundraiser for the Wildlife Hospital - up to $15,000 - that will help us care for sick and injured wildlife. Penguin season is almost upon us, and we will need these funds!
This is great news, BUT - we need to bring a troupe of volunteers with us to help with wristband collection at the two event exits.
We are also looking for two people to help with the penguin costume during the day on Saturday. There is a children's area and we think plenty of parents will like to have photos of their kids with the penguin. We would need one person to wear the costume and the other to be chaperone for the costumed person (there will be drunk people around...but hopefully not in the children's area!!!). We are super flexible on the timing of the penguin photos, so if you're interested, let us know what works for you.
This is a fun one that lots of people can help with, especially folks who want to volunteer for a good cause, but are low on time for recurring contributions. It is also one for people who are interested in the work that the Wildlife Hospital does and has a friendly engaging personality!
If you have tickets to the Festival and plan on attending plus volunteering, please note that OUSA is very strict on volunteers needing to be sober during their shift.
