The Otago Community Hospice has to raise $2.5 million each year to maintain its service across Otago – ensuring that anyone needing specialist palliative care gets that care no matter where they live, no matter what illness they have, no matter what their age. The Hospice Shops have a significant role in in this fundraising.
Their volunteers are a crucial part of the Hospice service equation – with a contribution worth $800,000 each year. On any given week, they have 245 volunteers helping us out across 723 work hours. Without these volunteers – right across the Otago region – Hospice could not do what it does.
Volunteers need to be able to demonstrate initiative, be motivated and enthusiastic but with the ability to take direction and work cooperatively in a team environment.
Retail experience would be an advantage but not essential May need to be agile to navigate the small shop Dress Code: Casual but tidy
