This role is a fantastic role to increase your facilitation skills while supporting the senior community in their digital literacy.
You will be skilled in IT, particularly smartphones. Emailing, sending photos, video calls are all highly sought after skills by our community. Voice to text and voice searching are also hightly sought after. Having knowledge of all this plus apps, phone calls etc. will be essential to encourage the participants to explore their phones. Security and safety is a strong theme throughout the course.

Role is located in Dunedin, South Dunedin and Mosgiel and rural Dunedin (Outram).
Classes are limited to 8 people.

Requirements

Potential volunteers should have the following:

  • Good facilitation skills
  • Reasonable IT knowledge
  • Able to communicate knowledge to others effectively
  • Friendly, good sense of humour and able to relate to seniors
  • Excellent patience and ability to adjust your teaching style and subject matter to suit the audience

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Commit to deliver the four sessions at two hours each over a four week period.

This is a pilot project so long-term commitments are welcome.
