Area Committee Member

St John’s mission is to prevent and relieve sickness and injury, and to act to enhance health and well-being of people of all races and creeds anywhere in New Zealand. St John is a charitable organisation with a volunteer ethos. It operates independently of Government and business, and serves communities throughout New Zealand by delivering an extensive range of services and products in the health and health-related fields.

St John’s 145 Area Committees host many fundraising events across the country. Their vital work contributes to community programmes as well as funds for ambulances, stretchers and defibrillators.

Every Area Committees is different, as each caters for the most pressing needs in their own community.

You could be helping to organise heath shuttles or caring callers for lonely or vulnerable members of the community, hosting St John exhibition stands to raise awareness about our vital work, setting up a new op shop, or helping to run first aid courses.

Area Committees touch every aspect of life and work at St John, with a focus on governance, fundraising and allocating donations and operational funds for St John wisely to benefit their community.

No two days are the same, and you will be able to establish and develop strong relationships in your community and within the St John family.

Requirements

St John in Wanaka are looking for financially savvy people who are comfortable communicating and interacting with anyone. With a need for good organisational skills and accurate records, their Area Committees members often come from senior or administrative roles in the business community.

What matters most is your passion for the wellbeing of your community – and your willingness to get stuck in and help keep the vital work of St John going.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
