We're looking for facilitators for our two social groups:

  • Alphabet Soup - a social group for LGBTQIA+ youth aged 13-17 to meet other rainbow teenagers and take part in group activities (4:30-6pm every other Wednesday except school holidays)
  • Trans and Gender Diverse group - a social group for trans, gender diverse and questioning people aged 18+ (5:30-7pm first Monday of every month)

We'll train you on how to run social groups, focusing on skills including group health, assertive communication, boundary setting, self care and how to work with risk and disclosures.

Requirements

We are looking for committed rainbow identifying volunteers aged 16+ with an understanding of the aspects of the role. Previous experience working with young people and/or the rainbow community is appreciated, but not required.

In order to volunteer as a group facilitator you will need to undergo Police Vetting.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Alphabet Soup runs fortnightly on (Wednesdays 4:30-6pm) and TGD runs monthly (Mondays 5:30-7pm). Facilitators will be rostered, but should aim to be available for two of the three sessions per month to ensure all sessions are staffed.
We will be running a training weekend on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of June. You will be required to attend both days.
