Bike Pick Uper

New Zealand Red Cross

Queenstown, Wānaka

New Zealand Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilising the power of humanity and enhancing community resilience. The Red Cross Fundamental Principles guide all that they do, whether they're helping people in New Zealand communities or providing urgent relief in an International disaster.

Red Cross are currently looking for a couple of volunteers in Queenstown and Wanaka to collect any bikes that are being donated and store them until they are picked up in bulk (once every few weeks).

The bikes will then be taken to Invercargill where other volunteers will service them and, if necessary rebuild them so they are ready to be given to former refugees arriving in the city. These bikes make a huge impact on the families ability to get around town due to limited bus services and families who do not having cars or driving licence's.

This role is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of others especially former refugee families arriving in New Zealand!

  • Ability to pick up bikes and have somewhere to store them - ideally someone you will have a bike rack.
  • You will be friendly and thank donors on Red Cross behalf.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1 to 2 hours a week - flexible times.
