South Alive 'Sustainable Living' Action Team member

South Alive is a community led organisation which is focused on the revitilisation of South Invercargill.
South Alive's mission statement is : Empowered by our Strengths as a community, we will build a place to live and work that engenders pride and inspires us.
The Sustainable Living Action Team (formerly the Housing Team) projects include:

  • Random Recognition Awards: selecting properties where the resident has shown pride in their property and presenting them with a card and voucher
  • Sustainable Living Seminars & Workshops: running seminars (usually once a month) on a different topic related to living sustainably. Previous housing seminars have covered transportable homes, tiny homes, urban gardening, straw bale homes and modern village living
  • Partnering with NZ Fire and Emergency to run projects building awareness of fire safety in homes
  • regular fundraising efforts such as sausage sizzles to raise funds for the projects delivered by the sustainable living action team.

Requirements

The Sustainable Living Team is looking for someone with an interest in housing and sustainability issues/topics, and the South Invercargill area.
You must be reliable, and able to work well as part of a team.

Time commitment

Monthly team meetings on Thursday evenings (5.30pm - 6.30pm)
Events as required - a few hours each month
Sausage sizzles on a weekend - 4 times a year
