Peer Support Volunteer 2022

Please note this role does not start until 2022 with training in March. The contract that goes along with this role will be until the end of December 2022.

This role involves providing peer support, which involves supporting others who are in mental distress or need help navigating the mental health system (full training will be provided).
As part of the role you will be expected to:

  • Help at the Hope Centre with tasks such as housekeeping and general administration.
  • Help out at events including street appeal, and World Suicide Prevention Day.

  • Be empathetic, responsible, compassionate, a good listener, good communicator and have a genuine desire to help others.
  • Attend training and ongoing monthly supervision
  • Be able to commit sufficient hours per week
  • Sign a year long contract (exit interview is required if you wish to stop volunteering)

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

The role will commence after the completion of a two weekend workshop (Saturday 5th March, Sunday 6th March, Saturday 12th March and Sunday 13th March 10am-4pm). Between 2-4 hours of volunteering per week is required but the more the better!
