The QLDC Libraries are a fantastic portals to recreational fulfilment, social connection, empowerment through information, education, health and wellness. QLDC Libraries strive to enhance community access to all their facilities and now they need you!

Wānaka Library is seeking to establish a regular, fortnightly, social English group for non-native English speakers. The facilitator will need to be confident in leading inclusive, non-judgemental sessions, guide the group through everyday English conversation and help practice English phrases and understand their meaning.

This is not a prescribed English language course but a social group where participants can practice and further develop their English language skills and knowledge in a warm, friendly and welcoming environment. Equal participation will be encouraged among all participants.

Volunteers should be friendly, welcoming and have a love of meeting new people.
Previous experience of facilitating language exchange or lessons would be useful but not essential.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

It is anticipated that sessions will start in February 2022 and will take place at Wānaka Library or an alternative venue depended on COVID restrictions. The group would ideally meet once a fortnight for 90 minutes late afternoon / early evening. This can be somewhat directed by the facilitator but will also be restricted by library hours.
