The Dunedin Fringe is an experimental, boundary-breaking festival, and we welcome one and all, endeavouring to build a programme with something for everyone. The Dunedin Fringe is a big machine with a lot of moving parts, and vital to this ecosystem are the volunteers who generously bless us with their talent and care, devoting their time and energy every year to the success of the festival.
We even won an award for our volunteer programme at the 2021 Dunedin Volunteer Awards!
Be a part of a thriving creative arts scene, watch the city come alive, make friends and connections to last a lifetime, get experience, and get empowered to do your own creative work! Our volunteer coordinator is also happy to provide references to those who want them, or to be a referee for the future.
While the bulk of volunteer roles are during the festival, 16th-26th of March, there are several events leading up to the festival that require your help, such as the Programme Launch on the 16th of February, distribution of guides and posters to help promote the festival, and market days such as Thieves Alley.
No experience is required, and any training one might need for a role will be provided by us. Additionally, if you feel you have experience that would be a great benefit to the festival, let us know and we may be able to find a unique role/position for you!
Note: The festival is an ever-changing landscape, especially recently. Therefore, the roles and responsibilities on the website may differ or change from the description.
We aim to be as flexible as possible and with a wide range of times and positions available, so whether you only have a small amount of time or you want to be there for whole the festival, we want you!
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
