Daffodil Day Area Coordinator

Daffodil Day symbolises hope for all New Zealanders impacted by cancer. This annual campaign raises thousands of dollars for the society with every dollar raised going towards cancer care for patients and their whānau, education and awareness programmes, and life-saving cancer research.

We are looking for volunteers to work in partnership with the Cancer Society (including local staff) and existing volunteers.

Tasks include:

  • Organising collection sites
  • Managing monies received (collection buckets/pre-sales/counter boxes)
  • Managing resources and merchandise
  • Submitting reports in a timely fashion
  • Identifying new opportunities in the local community
  • Attending the Daffodil Day debrief/planning meetings where applicable

In Mosgiel we are also seeking an assistant to support the area coordinator so if you are keen to help out and live in the Dunedin area we'd love to hear from you!

Requirements

  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivation
  • Ability to coordinate a team
  • All volunteers with The Cancer Society require a COVID 19 vaccine pass.

All volunteering roles are to be conducted under current Cancer Society Covid -19 guidelines, following advice from the Ministry of Health and the NZ Government. Cancer Society Staff will advise you of the guidelines that are in place at the time of any engagement. As you will be aware, the Government has amended its Covid-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 to include health and disability workers. Within the definitions provided by the Order and related legislation, this mandate will also apply to volunteers in Supportive Care roles and at events, such as the Daffodil Day. We will also require all contractors or other non-client visitors to our offices to be fully vaccinated. Please be prepared to show your vaccination passport.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1 hour a week in lead up from April 22- May 22 Further hours 2-4 hours a week may be required from June, leading up to our appeal on Friday the 26th of August 2022
