World Suicide Prevention Day Event Crew

Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust

The Mission of the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust is to reduce the rate of suicide and suicidal behaviour by promoting suicide prevention strategies, providing community education and support, raising awareness, providing bereavement support, and reducing stigma.

Life Matters is holding its 9th annual World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September in Dunedin at Knox Church. We are looking for volunteers to help set up before the event and pack down afterwards.

The event is about encouraging understanding, reaching in and sharing experiences, we want to give people the confidence to take action. To prevent suicide requires us to become a beacon of light to those in pain. We will have inspirational speakers, musical performances, candles, yellow ribbons and a remembrance tree. It is always a popular event with those who have struggled or lost people in the past. We hope to bring light to our community and reduce the stigma so that people and their whānau receive better support.

No specific requirements here as long as you have a positive, can-do attitude.

Time commitment

As much as you can offer! If you are interested in helping, we can have a chat about your availability in terms of times.

Set up generally begins about 12pm and our event starts at 6pm. The event finishes at 8pm. Pack down will start just after 8pm. Refreshments will be served after the event at 8pm and we require to pack up after that as well.

So, any help during these times would be appreciated. Volunteers are welcome to stay for the event.
