Event Support (Wheels at Wanaka)

Royal NZ Plunket Trust

Youth & Children

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is a charity and Aotearoa’s largest support service for the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau. Everything we do is to support Kiwi whānau and their tamariki to thrive including nurse visits, advice, parent groups and education course, playgroups, and community activities.

Upper Clutha Plunket have been asked to provide a family friendly space for Wheels at Wanaka over Easter weekend, and would love some volunteers to help both during the event and for set up and pack down. The gazebo will have high chairs, toys, changing station, breastfeeding chairs/pillows, and a portaloo. They will also have water and $5 packed lunches for kids, as well as lost child wristbands available for gold coin donation.

How you can volunteer:

Pre-event (Friday):

  • Setting up the gazebo
  • Making sure everything is set up within the fenced area (portaloo, tables, chairs etc.)

During event (Sat-Sun):

  • Greeting visitors and informing them of the offerings
  • Money collection for lunch packs and donations for wrist bands
  • Entertaining children
  • Supporting parents
  • Monitoring the area to ensure baby change facilities are kept stocked and clean

After event (Monday):

  • Pack down of gazebo

Any funds raised at the event are directly fed back into the organisation, enabling services to continue within the community. You will be given a quick training when you arrive. Parents volunteers are welcome to bring their own children along as well.

By volunteering you will:

  • Gain satisfaction from supporting this worthy local organisation
  • Help contribute to the fundraising efforts
  • Enable families in the Upper Clutha to use the facilities at local events
  • Meet new people and connect with local families
  • Receive a free day ticket to enjoy the event before/after your shift

As a volunteer you will be representing Plunket in the community, so ideally the role suits someone who is:

  • approachable and friendly
  • honest and trustworthy
  • over the age of 16 years
