Op Shops also help to fund St John's essential, lifesaving services and community initiatives. They have created friendly, supportive community hubs that offer much-needed local services that help New Zealand to become more environmentally sustainable. Yes, more recycling means less landfill!

Maybe you already have retail or customer service experience, or perhaps you're looking for an opportunity to learn these skills - either way, they'd love to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities will include:

  • Serving customers.
  • Cash handling.
  • Sorting donated goods.
  • Visual merchandising.
  • Tidying the store.
  • Flexibility (there's plenty of variety in this role).

Requirements

  • Caring and friendly individuals who are keen to give back to their community.
  • Retail experience is great but not essential (you can gain experience in this role).
  • People who are keen to learn, enthusiastic and reliable (they will teach you the skills you need).
  • Relate to those of different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Perform basic tasks associated with cleaning and merchandising.
  • Be at least 18 years old.

Pleae Note: They would also love to support teenagers over the age of 16 - who would like to gain retail/customer service experience. They are willing to support your development by providing you with the supervision you need!

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

They're looking for people who can spare 4 hours a week (one half-day shift), ideally for at least 6 - 12 months.
