Town Belt Kaitiaki is a student-led programme for students (aged from 9 up to 18 years) who are passionate about making a difference to improve the Town Belt and develop their leadership skills.

This annual student retreat is an overnight camping event that is held at the beautiful Sinclair Wetlands / Te Nohoaka o Tokoauau.

They are seeking someone:

  • Help supervise the activities of approximately 30 students at their annual Hui.
  • With an education background, or someone looking for experience in the area of Outdoor Health and Safety.

Requirements

  • Familiar with Health and Safety plans, or willing to learn.
  • Positive and upbeat.
  • Responsible and reliable.
  • Enjoys working with young people.
  • Comfortable being outdoors.
  • A valid first aid certificate is desirable but not essential.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Full weekend Saturday 10am to Sunday 4pm (with overnight stay).
There will be time for breaks, as there will be other volunteers present.
Able to spend time with the organiser in the weeks prior to the event to familiarise yourself with the agenda and the health and safety plan (estimate 3-4 hours)
