Ambulance & Events Volunteers provide quality care to patients in their local communities. Volunteers give their time to help both at local pre-planned events and by working on the frontline in an emergency ambulance. Applications for Ambulance and Event Volunteers are welcome across the region.
Volunteering as an Ambulance and Events Officer is a big commitment that provides huge rewards. By working on community events and on an ambulance your role is varied, but the focus is always on providing quality care to patients.
As an Events Volunteer you could be covering anything the Warbirds Over Wanaka to the Dunedin Marathon as well as international and local sports events, to school fairs or music events. Ambulance Volunteers provide care and support to our patients through their journey which may start at a 111 call and end either being referred to another health care provider, treated on scene, or transported to a medical facility.
Ambulance & Events volunteers go through a rigorous recruitment process to ensure they have the skills and physical capability to do the job. Once on board, they receive full driving, risk management and medical training before they are able to volunteer at events and as part of an ambulance crew. St John volunteers continue their development by attending regular training and receive full ongoing support in the role.
Hato Hone St John welcome and encourage diversity in their workforce and adhere to best practice equal employment opportunity principles in all aspects of their recruitment and our ways of working.
