The Alpine Community Development Trust (ACDT), through its operating arms Community Networks and LINK, provides our region’s only one-stop community support and connection centre, serving the growing Upper Clutha community across the full wellbeing spectrum. With a vision to ensure local individuals, families, community groups and initiatives thrive, not just survive, this unique organisation aims to provide information and support; connect and collaborate; and build a resilient community. They work to ensure the community development and social needs of the Upper Clutha region are met. The foodbank at the Wanaka Community Hub is a key part of this service, and volunteers are needed to support their work.

As a foodbank volunteer you will:

  • unpack donations and supermarket deliveries
  • stock the foodbank shelves
  • greet clients in a warm and welcoming manner
  • assist clients in choosing their food parcels and then pack them

Requirements

This role would suit someone with

  • organisational skills
  • the ability to lift heavy boxes
  • the ability to communicate patiently and clearly with clients
  • a good sense of humour
  • plenty of initiative
  • a high level of honesty
  • a good understanding of confidentiality

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • 1.5-2 hours per week
  • Mondays 1-2.30pm, Wednesday 11am-2pm, or Fridays 12-2pm
  • Ideally 2 volunteers
