Batch Cooking- Working Bee!

Plunket support families to ensure children reach their full potential in the first 5 years of life. Services available include parenting advice and support, child health promotion and health education. Central Otago Plunket are looking to provide home cooked meals to new parents in Alexandra.

How can you get involved?

  • Help batch cook 3 x recipes to be frozen and distributed by Plunket Staff and volunteers to parents of new babies in the local area.
  • Give 2-3 hours to help with prepping, cooking, and portioning out meals

By being a part of this lovely initiative, you will:

  • enjoy working in a cooperative, caring environment
  • prepare nutritious kai for those in need
  • Support whanau through the tough early weeks of parenthood

This is a time when a home cooked meal (made by someone else) can make the world of difference! It takes a village so let's create one!

All necessary information, kitchen space, ingredients, packaging and health and safety gear will be provided by Plunket.

Requirements

  • Some experience in batch cooking / recipe planning would be ideal
  • Most important is that you are keen to get involved and have fun in the kitchen
  • There will be a volunteer information form and the Code of Conduct acknowledgement to complete
  • Wear hairnets/ gloves provided by Plunket for use on the day.

Time commitment

Specific timings can be flexible around our volunteers availability and schedules, ideally planning a one day cook up but can split into two sessions if needed. Currently looking at end June/early July.
