StarJam Tutor (It's JamTime so Jam with them!)

All over New Zealand, StarJam inspires young people with disabilities (Jammers) to express themselves through music, dance, singing and performance. StarJam workshops, gigs and discos are fun and exciting spaces for Jammers to grow in confidence, discover musical and performance talents and make lifelong friends.

StarJam is currently reaching out to the Dunedin Community for new Volunteers to spend an hour or more a week to support our JamTime program!

What does the role involve?

  • Supporting a 4 week trial program offered to anyone aged 16+ with a disability
  • JamTime is for anyone aged 16+ with a disability
  • JamTime is a place for Connections, Music, Dance and Textiles Activities
  • Have fun and make genuine connections in your community
  • Facilitating the magic of music and dance in the community
  • Enjoying a unique role as a tutor while Jamming along and spread good vibes
  • Takes place at an accessible South Dunedin venue

Requirements

  • No experience necessary, just a willingness to have fun alongside some cool people
  • 15min online chat/interview where they get to know you and you can ask them questions this new project
  • Agree to provide references
  • Agree to undergo a police check

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

JamTime:

  • The Multi-Activity StarJamTime will operate on Monday afternoons in the 4-week StarJam Holidays
  • 10:30am-12pm or 3:30pm-5:30pm or both
  • 18th September : Orientation/Workshop for Jammers and Tutors
  • 25th September, 2nd October, and 9th October: JamTime sessions
