M!NT Charitable Trust is a small group of local families working on a voluntary basis to support youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities in the Upper Clutha region. Established in 2018 and becoming an incorporated group with charitable status in November 2019, the group's vision is "Strength together to achieve a good life for our children with intellectual disability".
This role will be supporting youth participating in afternoon activities. You will work along side carers, trainers or teachers to assist the group members in successfully participating in the activity. At the moment we are looking for someone to be an extra set of hands for a music and drama class with the possibility of different activities in the future.
Currently, local youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities have no or limited access to community events and extracurricular activities and rely on families to seek, organise and fund these opportunities. M!NT will work to increase community awareness and engagement; increase active and ongoing participation in sport and recreation for the additional needs community; and develop life skills in order for individuals to make meaningful and valued contributions within the local community. This will improve community connectivity and, through working directly with families, community groups and the business sector, M!NT will link people with people and encourage social interaction and support.
We hope volunteers will gain satisfaction contributing to their community. They will get to meet a bunch of amazing young people and their families, develop news skills and knowledge and hopefully really enjoy themselves.
We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who have:
45 minutes- 2 hours weekly
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
