Trustee - Championing Youth Wellbeing

Puna Rangatahi Alexandra and Districts Youth Trust support young people in the Alexandra area, Teviot Valley and the Maniototo. They support rangatahi aged 10-24 and their whanau to access resources, information, opportunities and guidance. They offer in-school wellbeing groups, one-to-one mentoring, rainbow support, school holidays events, community events and much more.

As a Trustee you will work with other Trustees to govern the organisation to ensure they can make a real difference in the lives of young people across Central Otago.

The tasks within the role of a Trustee include:

  • Attending monthly meetings.
  • Participating in strategic planning.
  • Supporting the Manager and staff to support deliver of the Trust's youth programmes.
  • Being an advocate for the organisation.
  • Reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Identifying fundraising opportunities.

Volunteers will gain:

  • A broader understanding of governance within a not-for-profit world.
  • An understanding of local funding opportunities.
  • Pride in watching how amazing the youth are.

Requirements

This role would suit someone with:

  • A passion to provide a safe place for young people to belong and develop.
  • A basic understanding of the role of governance.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience or interest in marketing and promotions

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Approximately 4 hours/month
