Run day-to-day by an amazing group of volunteers, all funds raised from the CanShop go back into supporting people in our community affected by cancer. CanShop is more than just a place to shop – it’s a beacon of hope and support for those affected by cancer.
As a Retail Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our store. Opportunities available include retail assistant, sorter, and/ or pricer. Whether you’re a styling superstar who knows all the labels, or you love to chat with customers, they'd love to have you on board.
As a CanShop Retail Assistant you will be:
- Assisting in the day-to-day functioning of the CanShop retail store
- Assisting and serve customers, providing a high level of customer service
- Sorting and display donated goods
- Keeping the shop clean and tidy
- Handling cash and using EFTPOS
- Maintaining professional integrity at all times, with a positive attitude
- Complying with the relevant policies and procedures of the Cancer Society while on duty
Training and skills:
- Full training of daily retail assistant tasks

Requirements
- Friendly, outgoing, and eager to engage with our community
- Reliable, punctual
- Full training provided so previous retail experience advantageous but not necessary
- Have a flair for retail
- Ability to work comfortably with people of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds
- Computer literacy
- Neat and tidy appearance
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
- Flexible volunteer hours to suit your schedule
- Shop Hours are 10-4 Mon-Fri and 11-3 Saturday
