Treasurer/Book Keeping

Grow Wānaka is a circular model community garden project working towards a more food secure, resilient and waste free community, while providing education, and community connection through collective growing, learning and sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills.

Wānaka Community Garden is a Tier 4 charity, and uses simple format reporting on a cash basis.

As a Treasurer you will:

• Share a passion for the charity’s cause and a commitment to ensuring its financial sustainability to support its mission.
• Oversee the organisation's financial administration.
• Generate financial reports for monthly meetings, including annual returns.
• Advise the Board on financial strategy and fundraising budgeting.
• Review and enforce financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure financial accountability and transparency.

You will be supported in the role by their passionate team including the long standing committee and garden project coordinator as well as former chairperson. Requirements

Ideal skills and experience:

• Experience in accounting or bookkeeping
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Experience in the financial space.
• Experience in the Non-for-profit sector is helpful but not required
• Experience generating financial reports and budgeting.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.

Time commitment

• 2 to 4 hours per month.
• 1 committee meeting per month in person or video call.
