Board Treasurer – Championing Youth Wellbeing

Puna Rangatahi Alexandra & Districts Youth Trust support young people in the Alexandra area, Teviot Valley and the Maniototo. They support rangatahi aged 10-24 and their whanau to access resources, information, opportunities and guidance. They offer in-school wellbeing groups, one-to-one mentoring, rainbow support, school holidays events, community events and much more!

The Board Treasurer helps guide the financial health to ensure they can make a real difference in the lives of young people across Central Otago.

As Board Treasurer, you will:

  • Provide financial oversight and advice to the Board and Manager.
  • Support the preparation, review, and presentation of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring financial performance.
  • Ensure appropriate financial systems and controls are in place.
  • Liaise with external accountants or auditors as required.
  • Serve as a full board member, participating in strategic decision-making.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings.

Requirements

  • Financial management skills (e.g. budgeting, reporting).
  • Can read and interpret financial reports and explain them clearly to other board members.
  • Values-driven and believes in equitable outcomes for youth and whānau.
  • Ideally have some experience in governance or not-for-profit environments (but not essential).
  • Is collaborative, reliable, and passionate about making a difference.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Approximately 4 hours per month
