Food Rescuers - Wanaka truck team

KiwiHarvest are a food rescue charity. They see themselves as a simple solution to two problems - food waste and food insecurity. They do this by simply redistributing excess food away from landfill and to local charities running food support programs helping people in their time of need. In Wanaka these are Community Networks Food Bank, Food For Love and Kahu Youth Trust.

🚛They have recently relocated their little green truck dedicated to Wanaka and are looking for a team of two to complete collections of excess food from local supermarkets around the CBD and deliver this much needed food to local charities.

Teams of two needed:

• Every 2nd Tuesday or Friday for 2 hours approximately 12-2pm (can be earlier on a Friday)
• One person needs to be happy to drive a small refrigerated delivery truck (truck is automatic and no special license required)
• Training run on the route will be completed with new driver volunteers.
• Need to independently coordinate with the other team of two covering the alternate same weekly shift to see if they can cover you if you are sick or away etc. for your scheduled collection before contacting management to cancel.

Requirements

• One person in the team of two must be happy to drive the small refrigerated delivery truck (truck is automatic and no special license is required).
• Comfortable lifting boxes and crates of food ranging from 5kg to 20kg.
• At least 18 years of age.

Time commitment

• Needing long term locals who can commit to one roughly two hour shift around the CBD every second Tuesday or Friday lunchtime from approximately 12- 2pm but can be earlier on a Friday.
• Need to be able to independently coordinate with the other team of two covering the alternate same weekly shift to see if they can cover you if you are sick or away etc. for your scheduled collection before contacting management to cancel.
