Waiora Scout Camp is looking for community‑minded people to join its Governance Committee and help guide the future of one of Otago’s most valued outdoor education and adventure spaces. Located only 15-minutes drive from the centre of Dunedin; Waiora Scout Camp is a stunning property hidden in the Silverstream Valley. Purchased in 1948 with funds raised by public subscription and Scout fundraising throughout Otago, the campsite was purchased to provide a safe environment for Scouts and other Youth to become experienced and skilled in outdoor activities. It is now used by a wide range of organisations and people.

About the Role
This is a strategic, governance‑level volunteer position and can be operational or hands‑on from time to time. You’ll help ensure the camp remains safe, sustainable, and impactful for the young people and groups who use it each year.

What You’ll Be Involved In

  • Helping with providing governance oversight and strategic direction, as well as the day-to-day running of the campsite.
  • Supporting long‑term planning, sustainability, and community engagement.
  • Helping ensure the camp continues to thrive as a resource for youth development, and all who use it.
  • Working collaboratively with a small, passionate committee.
