Category:

At Habitat for Humanity, they believe everyone deserves a safe, warm place to call home. Their ReStore in Glengarry, Invercargill, plays a vital role in raising funds for local housing projects—while also supporting a more sustainable future by giving donated goods a second life and keeping usable items out of landfill.

They are looking for friendly, reliable, and hands-on individuals who enjoy being part of a team, meeting new people, and making a real impact. You can choose the role that suits your interests and strengths, and even pick the duties you would like to focus on—whether that’s working with customers or helping behind the scenes.

Front of House roles include:

  • Greeting customers and providing friendly, helpful service
  • Creating a welcoming and positive shopping experience
  • Keeping the shop floor tidy, organised, and visually appealing
  • Helping manage trolleys and supporting the flow of the store
  • Light cleaning such as dusting and vacuuming (luxing)
  • Assisting with areas like toys, shoes, and bags

Back of House roles include:

  • Receiving and sorting donations from the community
  • Helping give pre-loved items a second life by preparing them for sale
  • Organising toys, dishes, ornaments, shoes, and bags
  • Keeping storage and work areas clean, tidy, and efficient
  • Supporting stock rotation and display preparation

As a volunteer, you’ll gain valuable retail and customer service experience, build confidence, learn practical skills in sorting and merchandising, and become part of a supportive community team. It’s also a great way to meet people, stay active, and know your time is directly helping families into safe, affordable housing while supporting a more sustainable world.
