Whanau Awhina Plunket support families to ensure children reach their full potential in the first 5 years of life. Services available include parenting advice and support, child health promotion and health education. Plunket was founded on volunteers and continues to value the contributions that volunteers offer in many areas of their work throughout New Zealand.
Invercargill Plunket are looking for new volunteers to join their team as Co-ordinators for their Music and Movement playgroups:
- Little Gladstone Grovers 0-5 years on Tuesday mornings from 10.00am-11.30am at All Saints Church Hall, (Cnr Dee Street and Hollywood Tce, Invercargill).
- Mini Movers 0-12 months on Thursday mornings from 10.00 - 11:30am at 132 Kelvin Street, Invercargill.
These roles could be shared by several people working together or alternating weeks.
As a Music and Movement Playgroup Coordinator you will:
- Help with setting up and packing down the space before and after each session.
- Welcome families and create a warm, inclusive, and friendly atmosphere.
- Lead attendees in a 20 min music and movement session, encouraging participation from children and caregivers.
- Complete simple pack down tasks (e.g. wiping instruments, tidying toys, vacuuming).
- Be a positive role model and uphold the values of a safe, family-friendly environment.
Requirements
- Friendly, approachable, and enjoys being around young children
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable joining in with music, singing, and movement (no musical experience required!)
- Committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all families
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
- Tuesdays 9 – 11:45am (weekly - school terms)
- Thursdays 9:15 – 11:45 (weekly - all year)
