Pregnancy Help provides a welcoming drop-in centre for whānau in the heart of the South Dunedin community, offering essential practical support at no cost. The organisation supplies safe sleep spaces, bedding, and appropriate baby clothing, while promoting sustainability through the reuse of quality items and waste reduction. Working collaboratively with other agencies and services, Pregnancy Help aims to achieve the best possible outcomes for vulnerable whānau.

The mahi that the Board Members do includes:

  • working alongside their national organisation to oversee operations
  • making decisions about strategic direction
  • helping to be accountable for what they are doing
  • helping to set a high standard in what they are doing
  • acting as an employer.

The Treasurer:

  • reports monthly on financial accounts
  • ensures that invoices and payroll are loaded and approved for payment.
  • attends monthly board meeting

Requirements

  • An accounting background with experience in Xero, Payroll Services, and preparation for financial audit processes would be an advantage.
  • Previous governance experience is not necessary.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • A few hours each month.
  • Additional time is required when preparing for audit processes (June/July).
