Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust is a Wānaka-based, community-led non-profit organisation dedicated to native habitat restoration. Its vision is for the community to be deeply connected with the land. To achieve this, the Trust:

• Eco-sources seeds throughout the Upper Clutha region
• Raises native seedlings in its local nursery
• Brings communities together through hands-on planting, habitat maintenance, and environmental education

The Trust's work has a growing, visible impact on the environment and the local community across the entire region.

The Role
Trustees play a key role in ensuring robust governance while supporting the operational team to continue its important mahi. Key Responsibilities include:

• Attending regular Board meetings
• Collaborating with fellow Trustees on specific strategic projects

Requirements

• Based in the Wānaka region with a passion for native biodiversity and the local community
• Open to diverse backgrounds and skillsets
• Experience in fundraising, non-profit governance, or native restoration is highly desirable

Time commitment

• Attending 11 evening Board meetings per year
• Collaborating with fellow Trustees on specific projects
• Assisting at weekend community planting days from time to time
