The Upper Clutha History Society Inc. (UCHS), now a Charity, was established in 1985. The Society preserves the records that make up the history of the Wānaka and Upper Clutha area. These records include photographs, paper records including maps, and oral history recordings.

The records are used for a variety of purposes including:
• Tracing family genealogies
• By societies, organisations and schools for anniversaries
• Photos for media and other uses
• Research for publications, including our quarterly Newsletter, ‘Those Were The Days’, and on our website, www.wanakahistory.org

A dedicated and busy group of volunteers give many hours of their time assisting with investigating documents and photos before they are archived in the database.

Requirements

• An interest in local history
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and think laterally
• A keen eye for detail
• Computer skills (particularly Excel and Word)
