The Upper Clutha History Society Inc. (UCHS), now a Charity, was established in 1985. The Society preserves the records that make up the history of the Wānaka and Upper Clutha area. These records include photographs, paper records including maps, and oral history recordings.

The primary role of the Treasurer is to manage the Society's financial accounting system, ensure the Society’s financial stability and that the Society is compliant with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, annual reporting to Charities Services, and all requirements for the control and management of finances set out in the Society’s Constitution.

Duties will include:
• Drive the annual Strategic Planning Process and develop and manage the Society's annual Operating Plan and Financial Budget
• Manage the Society’s Financial Accounting System (spreadsheet based), this requires processing of all income and expenditure transactions, asset purchases, all banking matters, and annual liaison with the Society’s reviewer
• Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Committee
• Prepare annual reports for our Annual General Meeting
• Complete annual reports for the Charities Commission
• Secure approval to individual project and operating expenses as they arise
• Apply for all relevant funding grants while maintaining relationships with our major funding partners, as well as completing all Accountability and Project Outcome Reports required by funders for approved grants
• Manage the Society's bank accounts, bank signatories and investments

Requirements

• An interest in local history is ideal, but not required
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, acts and regulations, including the Incorporated Societies Act 2022
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and think laterally
• Computer proficiency (particularly Excel and Word)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
