Dunedin Curtain Bank receives donated used or unwanted curtains which we quality check, line and alter to hand to those most in need. We do this as curtains make a significant difference to the warmth of a home. A third of all heat loss in an uninsulated home occurs through windows. People are able to access the service directly (with a Community Services Card, Gold Card with Community Service Card or Student ID), or via a social service agency referral.
We also keep all donated fabrics and curtains not fit for purpose away from landfill by making recycled products such as bags, draft stops and wheat bags.
