The purpose of Community Patrols of NZ is to work together with similar organisations thought-out NZ to build safer communities and reduce crime. To assist police by acting as "extra eyes and ears" for the police by undertaking surveillance and observation. Patrols are carried out in residential, business and industrial areas and involve taking notes and gathering information.
Patrollers work in pairs. They are independent from Police but work alongside with police as extra “eyes and ears” to assist in building a safer community.
