Do you have a few regular hours available between 9.00am and 4.00pm during the week?

Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge is looking for practical, community-minded volunteers to join their Donations Team and help support wāhine, tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau experiencing family violence.

What might volunteering involve?

  • Sorting and organising donated items
  • Assisting with donation pick-ups
  • Helping maintain our donations and storage areas

Why is this important?
Every donated item that comes through our doors helps create safety, dignity, comfort, and hope for whānau rebuilding their lives. Whether it's sorting clothing, preparing household items, or helping collect donations from the community, your contribution directly supports those who need it most.

Whether you can offer a couple of hours each week or a regular half-day, they would love to hear from you.

If you are motivated to contribute meaningfully to a busy vital community service, this role offers a valuable opportunity to make a positive impact.

Requirements

  • Able to lift light to medium boxes.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and in a small team.
  • Available during weekdays - work hours (9am–4pm).
  • Volunteers must complete an interview - training and be police vetted.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1–2 (or more) hours per week - Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.
