Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge is seeking committed and reliable volunteers to support the coordination and occasional collection of donations that directly assist whānau, women and children who are seeking safety and support from whānau family violence.

This practical role includes lifting sorting and organising donated items, and maintaining a tidy, well-ordered storage area. Your contribution will help ensure that clothing, toiletries, bedding, and other essential goods are readily available to the frontline team when they are urgently needed in times of crisis.

If you are motivated to contribute meaningfully to a busy vital community service, this role offers a valuable opportunity to make a positive impact.

Requirements

  • Able to lift light to medium boxes.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and in a small team.
  • Available during weekdays - work hours (9am–4pm).
  • Volunteers must complete an interview - training and be police vetted.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1–2 (or more) hours per week - Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.
