Stage three of a five year project is to plant 750 native plants into the reserve. Haehaeata Natural Heritage Trust volunteers have grown 27 different local species and they need to get these in the ground before winter's end. They will do this over three sessions, so that is 250 plants each afternoon.
There are many ways for you to be actively involved so even if your back isn't up to digging or planting there are lots of different ways you can help. In fact, the holes have already been dug (all going to plan)!
Everyone is welcome, no experience required. Haehaeata core volunteers will guide you in your role.
There are various things you can do from;
More information (including where to park and health and safety considerations) will be provided to registered participants prior to the day.
Participants will be briefed on arrival for their chosen role (including health and safety) and supported by leaders for each role.
No dogs please. Bring your furry friends back at a quieter time to enjoy the reserve and chase some rabbits.
We have three planting days this season.
They will start at 1pm and ideally 3 hours of your time would be great, but any part thereof is much appreciated.
They will finish up each session with a cuppa and a chat.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
