The Women’s Shed is a safe, welcoming space where women come together to learn practical skills, build confidence, and connect through workshops, projects, and community events.

They are looking for a Treasurer and Bookkeeper who will be responsible for the financials across the organisation.

The Treasurer and Bookkeeper will work with trust members to ensure they meet governance requirements, while also being happy to roll up their sleeves and manage the day-to-day bookkeeping.

The role involves both governance and bookkeeping:

  • Providing financial oversight alongside the Trust.
  • Preparing and presenting reports (including cash flow forecasts).
  • Supporting budgeting and grant applications.
  • Ensuring compliance with their financial policies.
  • Maintaining accounts in Xero.
  • Reconciling transactions.
  • Lodging GST returns.
  • Processing payments.
  • Supporting grant acquittals.

Requirements

They are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with Xero and bookkeeping basics (GST, bank reconciliations, reporting).
  • Understands the responsibilities of a Treasurer in a small charity/NFP setting.
  • Is organised, reliable, and comfortable presenting finances to a committee.
  • Values community, connection, and women’s empowerment.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Approximately 2–4 hours per week (flexible).
